Waitlist Information
Priority for available childcare spaces is given first to GCCS staff, then to families who currently have a child enrolled in the Centre, followed by families on the external waitlist. Typical wait times range from 1–2 years, depending on your child’s age and the requested start date.
Submitting a waitlist application does not guarantee a childcare space. A non-refundable $50 administrative fee is required before placement on the waitlist. After submitting the waitlist form, you will receive an email with payment instructions and additional policy information.
If you do not receive this email, please contact Nicole@glenorachildcaresociety.ca.
If the administrative fee is not received within 30 days of your form submission, your information will be removed from our system.
Families are encouraged to stay in contact every 3–6 months to update their information and confirm continued interest. Providing flexibility regarding start dates can also be beneficial. If your desired start date passes without a space being offered, your child will remain on the waitlist unless you request removal, you do not respond to communication attempts (email or phone), you do not complete a waitlist update when contacted, or you decline a space twice.
When a childcare space is offered, families have two (2) business days to confirm acceptance. If a response is not received within this timeframe, the application will be closed and the space will be offered to the next family on the waitlist.
If you would like to update information for a child already on the waitlist, inquire about your current position, or ask about the number of children on the waitlist, please email Nicole@glenorachildcaresociety.ca.

Shark Room (2yrs-3yrs)
The Shark room is where children learn valuable self-help skills. We begin potty training when children are ready. We also begin to encourage getting dressed for outside, following one to two step directions and assisting in serving lunch or snack.
Behaviours such as bitting, hitting and grabbing toys from others are a natural part of a toddler’s development. Children at this age have BIG feelings! Educators incorporate identifying emotions, encouraging language, facilitating turn-taking and creating visuals into all areas of the Shark room routines. The more self-control and emotional managment tools children have in their arsenal the less children will resport to other behaviours.
Parallel play is an important step and will eventually lead to children learning hot to relate to others.

Sunshine Room (3yrs-4yrs)
Children in the Sunshine room is where children begin exploring materials in amazing ways. Moving, building, engineering, manipulating.. becoming mighty inventors! Encouraging critical thinking skills is essential at this age.
The Sunshine room tests limits and encourages taking risks. Risky play supports resiliency, problem-solving, motor development, independence and self-esteem to name just a few benefits.
We provide many experiences to encourage associative play (increasing dramatic play areas, puzzles, games and art) where children can begin focusing on the other child playing, and not just their own play.

Rainbow Room (4yrs-5yrs)
Educators become co-learners, co-researchers and co-imaginators along with the children in the Rainbow room! This stage of children’s development is all about asking questions, understanding the world around them and how things work.
Children at this age show growing interest in printing letters and numbers. We use open-ended and interest-based provocations to assist with these school readiness skills. The Rainbow room becomes a space to enourage cooperative play. Children learn important social and teamwork skills through board games, puzzles, art, loose parts and collaborative projects.
